On September 30, 2016, the Kick-Off meeting for the project "Capacity Building of the Kyrgyz Republic on Son Kul Lake status assessment for environmentally sustainable development" (KGZ-Water / Son-Kul) took place in Bishkek. The participants of the meeting were the representatives of the main project partners the State Agency of Environment Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (SAEPF) and the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), as well as the prospective Project stakeholders represented by the State Inspectorate on Environment and Technical Security under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (SIETS under the GKR), Aarhus Center in Bishkek and NGO.

On September 29, 2016, the Second Conference on Environmental Cooperation between Finland and Kyrgyzstan "Responding to needs of environmental data for climate change adaptation and natural resources management" took place in Bishkek. The Conference has been organized by the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), Finnish Geological Survey (GTK) and Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI), implementing cooperation activities in the Kyrgyz Republic under financial support of the Finnish Government.

High Level Conference

On September 28, 2016, the High Level Conference "From Paris to Bishkek" on the way of climate-resilient sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan" took place in Bishkek. Conference has been opened by Mr. Mukhammetkalyi Abulgaziev, the First Vice-Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic. Also Mr. Dastan Djumabekov, Deputy chairman of the Committee on agricultural policy, water resources, ecology and regional development of the Parliament (Jogorku Kenesh) of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Juhani Toivonen, Ambassador, Development Policy Adviser,&nbsp" MFA Finland and Mr. Alexander Avanessov, UNDP Resident Representative in Kyrgyzstan have welcomed participants of the Conference and noted relevance of considered issue and need to support mutually beneficial cooperation toward sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan.
