Field mission to Chatyr-Kul, August 2017
On August 23-24, 2017 the field mission of Project manager, Mr. Anssi Karppinen Director of Karatal-Djaparyk Natural Reserve, Mr. Bakytbek Choroev to the high Alpine lake of Chatyr Kul near the border between Kyrgyzstan and China took place. The main mission goal was collection of water and sediment samples.
The purpose of sampling was to get samples from an area where pesticides have not been used to find out the level of background concentration of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in Kyrgyzstan's mountain lakes in order to more comprehensively to study the environmental status of Son-Kul lake- Project’s pilot area. The samples taken will also be used in the further training of the laboratory experts in the Issyk-Kul Regional Administration of the State Agency of Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) in October 2017.
